Brennan Lucas Staffieri (they/them) is a non-binary poet born and raised in the Pacific Northwest. They completed their MFA in creative writing with Pacific University. They are a former intern with CALYX, where they were in charge of developing queer workshops and programming for the press. Their work has appeared in “Love is For All of Us” edited by James Crews and Brad Peacock, We the Soil Magazine, Oddball Magazine, and on Portland stages. Owólabi Aboyade is a multidimensional father/ essayist/ poet/ critic/hip hop artist (Will See Music) from Detroit healing from the intergenerational trauma of having to hide his creative/spiritual power to survive.. He is a proud Kwame Dawes Mapmaker Fellow in Pacific University’s MFA program’s class of 2025, in the nonfiction genre. His poetry chapbook, Lee, Young Lee was published by AWE Society Press in 2024. He is a contributor to Riverwise, Sneaker Wave, Geez, Therapeutic Edgelands, and Against The Current magazines. They’ve released six albums under the stage name Will See or in various bands and collaborations.
Jenny Linn (Morris) Loveland is a teacher and Creative with a wanderer’s streak. Born in Japan, “home” is the NE Bay Area of California having been raised and schooled in Fairfield and Berkeley over 15 years. A first-born daughter of a Japanese war bride who wed an Air Force serviceman (gaijin), the family moved a lot. When she fled high school, she looked to UC Berkeley just as the ROTC program began accepting women. The Corps accepted her, and after graduation, the Air Force placed her in Air Traffic Control. Twenty years later, she was back where she came from: in the military, alone with high-flying stress. Low on fuel, too close to the sun, waxen wings melting in the intensity, she pitched over and parachuted to earth. She landed on her butt, stood up with pencil in hand, and felt her toes cooling, the fertile wet mud oozing between her bare toes. Free at last, she dropped her chute, and charted a course to the unknown.
Her work appears in various publications including Women’s Voices for Change, and Sneaker Wave. “Without Regret,” a poem about her mother, was nominated for a Pushcart, 2017, O-Dark-Thirty. “Driving,” War on the Rock, a poem about PTSD, gained a life of its own on the interwebs and wanders, like Voyager. She completed her MFA in Non-Fiction at Pacific University, Class of 2025 and is a Kwame Dawes Mapmaker Fellow.
